Are Human Pheromones in Perfumery just bunk?
Avery Gilbert, Guild Associate and general raconteur on all things olfactory, finds a book that confirms his theory that the hoo-ha over human pheromones is just bunk.
Anya McCoy founded the USA's first modern natural perfume line in 1991. Since then, she has nurtured and educated natural perfumers worldwide with a comprehensive distance learning course. Anya is the Head Instructor at the Natural Perfumery Institute, the first online NP course, founded in 2007. She is a recognized leader in the art and the 'go-to' person for anyone interested in natural perfume.
I've been waiting for an expert to comment on The Great Pheromone Myth, but am very surprised that Avery Gilbert agrees with Dick Doty's portrayal of the research. Are they just ignoring the neuroscience? While I agree that the marketers need to be stopped from making baseless claims, it's hard for me to imagine taking the neuroscience out of olfactory neuroscience, since it's the neuroscience that Avery and Dick use to explain their work with odors.
