Ask the Perfumer - Sunday, October 17, 2010 - 10 a.m. to 10 PM EST

Ask the Perfumer is open for questions. I almost forgot to post today, as I was out early and running most of the day. Sorry about my tardiness, but I'm here now, so ask away.

  1. Hey Anya,
I was looking for you earlier. I always learn from the QA. My question today is, are there niches in this wonderful niche of natural perfumery?

    Thanks,
    Denise

  2. Hi Anya,

because of you, I know how time fast :) I just blink - and there is another sunday! :)

    Question:
I have option to choose between 2 type of alcohol: Alcohol from corn or alcohol from sugar beet. Which one would you recommend?

    Thank you!

    Good night:)

  3. Hi Denise:

    There are many niches, Denise!

There are perfumers who don't use absolutes or concretes.

There are perfumers who use only organic aromatics.

There are perfumers who only create vegan perfumes (impossible, IMO, since little bugs and such are killed in the extraction process).

There are perfumers who create only Kosher perfumes (impossible, IMO, see vegan).

There are others, can't think of them at this time.

  4. Ankica, it's your bedtime - I'm really late!

I would get both alcohols! Furthermore, if you can get grape alcohol, or rice, get it. They all have different properties, and you should get familiar with them.
