I'll be guest blogging next month on the A Better Way to Clean pages on my perceptions of how a natural perfume or naturally-perfumed product is perceived by the American public. A Better Way to Clean is blogged by Dr. Larry Weiss, the driving force behind CleanWell, a new Benefactor member of the Natural Perfumers Guild.
The CleanWell hand sanitizers and hand wipes fit within the Guild's philosophy of using only natural aromatics, and take the concept one step further in their quest to provide a safe, effective germ-killing product: no alcohol. I didn't really "get" it at first, even though I realized that all hand sanitizers on the market - and you know them, the big names, probably have some in your drawer or purse right now - all those sanitizers contain alcohol, as much as 62%. Well, alcohol can do more than dry your skin -- it can harm your child.
I had no idea that there were 12,000 cases of children being poisoned by the alcohol in hand sanitizer gels in the US last year, and that's just the statistic from the Poison Control Center. I'm guessing there are many more that didn't get reported because the parent just thought the child wasn't feeling well. Not well, indeed! There's an news clip on A Better Way to Clean that's frightening, you must view it.
Dr. Weiss had a dilemma when he first tested the Ingenium product: the American public didn't like the scent of thyme oil, a major constituent. So, he looked to natural perfumer Mandy Aftel for formulation and she came up with a very pleasant, well accepted fragrance for the product.
More is in the works for this duo and the CleanWell team, more great products that clean and sanitize and help protect you and your family from germs. The Guild is proud to have CleanWell on board, and proud that our Founder, Mandy Aftel, was chosen to help bring this product to market.
